Because smoked marijuana contains a variety of combustion compounds, it can damage the lungs and possibly the immune system. Several health committees recommended the development of an inhalation device that delivers pure THC -- the active ingredient in marijuana -- to the lungs. Such a device has not yet been created.
There is some evidence -- but no scientifically valid studies -- that marijuana is useful in treating some forms of epilepsy and spasticity caused by multiple sclerosis.
Some studies show that smoked marijuana is effective for some patients in relieving nausea caused by cancer and chemotherapy.
There is evidence that marijuana may improve the appetite and help patients gain weight. This could be lifesaving for AIDS patients who develop wasting , a severe weight-loss condition.
Smoking marijuana is effective in lowering pressure inside the eyeballs of some patients with glaucoma. A word of caution, however: the drug also drops blood pressure, and this could compromise blood flow to the optic nerve and damage vision.

Not only macular degeneration, but for people on chemo it can be an appetite stimulant. This is because of the other compounds that are found in the leaves not just the mind altering THC levels. The stem(hemp) is one one the strongest ropes known. Because of the adulteration of the original marijuana plant to increase the THC level its hard to say what the other benefits may be.So far it has limited success but it has the property of being "reverse tolerant" meaning the longer you use it the less you need to achieve the same effect. But, it is still illegal and not very well liked by the mainstream so, you will be ostracized by those you will need the most.

What the second guy say was wrong becuase such a machine has been created and its called a humidifier. What it dose it heats up the bud upto a tempature where the THC becomes a gas and is what you inhale and get high from. the bud its self is not burned so their is no toxic gas from the lighter nor the matches or just the bud itself burning. Its just a pure hit of THC. He was right about all the other mumbojumbo. Its a great feeling, feeling relaxed and thats what it dose. Just that you always want to feel like that so the user has to know when is to much where he is just a lazy ***. Too much of something can become addicting, but marijuana itself is not addicting.

In my opinion, marijuana opens up parts of the mind not normally used. I've also tried shrooms...I actually think smoking a lot of weed is almost (but not really) like doing shrooms. You notice sounds, smells, colors, etc. more. You notice people more...you feel as if you can sense presence more. You become more introspective...more thoughtful. you notice things more and think about things you normally don't think about...you also become more creative. Also, weed can make everything hysterical. I would totally recommend everyone to try smoking marijuana at least once in their life time...and preferably more. haha.

There are benefits to medicinal marijuana, but the stuff you by on the street could have anything in it. In my opinion, the risk far outweighs any possible benefit.

Queen Victoria used to use marijuana to allieviate her periods pain but reallyknowing what cannabis psychosis does to you I would prefer to suffer with my hot bottle!
Too many of my friends have become losers because of drugs, starting by cannbis and ending up (in no time) taking xtasy, cocaine and heroine. Stay away from drugs you people, what happened to them could happen to us and really it's not worth it...

For everyone elses benefit...It turned my mate into a paranoid skits, and as for being not addictive, what planet are you on. I've watched him hunt around on the floor picking up cat biscuits and all sorts to get a spliff on the go. "drugs are for mugs" or "do dope no hope"

I think anyone that seeks out side interference with a mind altering substance, has not fully matured enough to, handle life in this reality.
no drug that does this can be of use, try meditation, that's real, and beneficial.
you were born sober, and theres nothing wrong with that, feeling.
