Can knowledge come from tv?

I am just curious to see if anyone thinks that you can recieve knowledge from watching tv...

YES.

I learned more from the history chanel as an adult than all my years of history classes.

I have learned more about the law from Court TV than the three college level Criminal Justice courses I took.

Heck, even in Nursery School and KG, I learned more from PBS than I did in class.

If someone is watching TV and facts go over their head, there is nothing they can do. School and even our precious colleges, have a policy of there "being no dumb questions" which is a dumb statement to make. It essentialy means the pace of teaching must be slowed down to a crawl, which means that students are learning less and less in school.

TV, and by that I mean Cable TV, has a gread variety of chanels, and sad as it may be, I can see the TV and Internet offering a better education than school and college for those who can learn on their own.

less than 1 per cent. and that part mostly -- from pushing the various buttons and getting the tech -- knowledge not the content of the TV shows. what a shame that such an immense potential is going for almost nothing -- with non-sense talk shows and what not -- not to talk about daily crimes with beautiful actors and actress -- where in real life -- hardly they belong to that category. the TV mania feeds on itself and by itself. and to add insult to injury -- half (or almost) half of the pro grammes are self-promotions of the specific programs or their introduce rs, the MC. etc. etc. I have had enough -- haven't you.?

yes of course there is a lot of good stuff on there.
including PBS, public television, documentaries, etc.
cooking shows, lots of educational stuff.
