yes, it does help you lose weight faster bc you are giving up calories to feed the baby through the breast milk. in fact, vitamins and nutrients are also lost through the breast milk as well as immunoglobulin A which are antibodies for the baby towards infectious agents. so it is paramount for mothers that breast feed (which actually makes healthier and smarter babies) to get plenty of calories, nutrients, and vitamins!!

Yes! I lost 60 lbs. within 2 months after having my son (I had gained 80 lbs.) from breastfeeding. Then I got back down to a size 3 just 4 months after I had him. I nursed till he was 18 months, and the weight stayed off. Breastfeeding helps you expel anywhere from 500-1000 caloreis per day depending on how often you nurse. It's like a workout without working out. You still need to eat healthy and try to stay active if possible. This will hurry the whole process along. Good luck, and congrats on choosing to breastfeed!

YES! At least it did me. I lost all of my baby weight and 2 lbs. extra! started at 117 and got up to 140. I now weigh 115. I had her on 10/15/06. I am breastfeeding (when I can as I started work yesterday since I had her - I pump during the day here and breast feed at night)
Good luck and congrats!

Oh yeah! I weighed 30 lbs less than when I started my pregnancy when my son was 1 month old. It was great. Just make sure you don't "diet" as you need more calories for breast milk. Also, you have to be careful when the baby is 6 months old. That is when they start eating baby food and you start nursing less. If you don't watch what you eat, the weight will just come right back.

yes it does, you burn a lot of calories breastfeeding. but let me just add this, dont try to diet when you are breastfeeding, it is bad for you and the baby. light excercise along with breastfeeding for the first three months helped me lose almost all of my pregnancy weight.

Absolutely. I never dieted or did any extra excercise at all after any of my babies, in fact with my first, I had to really work hard to eat enough because I actually went down a jeans size compared to when I fell pregnant.
Also, it causes the uterus to contract better and actually helps flatten the tummy too!
