Honey, at the risk of sounding mean, you have to get a life! You both do! If you tell him that you need some space, he will think he did something wrong. You should probably back off slowly and encourage him to hang out with his friends or do other things, while you do your own thing . Good luck!

Honesty is always the best policy. But first, you should consider the type of person he is. If he's a quiet, sensitive guy that doesn't have a lot of close friends, you need to make sure he understands that you love spending time with him, but that you also need some time with your friends. Maybe you could designate one night a week to being your girls' night and his guys' night, and you both could just hang with your friends.

Me and my boyfriend were like that for the first five months or so--we were just infatuated with each other and didn't want to spend a minute apart. But that's just the beginning phase of most relationships. Then you get to the point where you want to rediscover your identity and do the things you used to do. It doesn't mean you love him any less, it's just the stage in the relationship. You might have gotten there before him, so be understanding and just sit down and talk to him.

If he doesn't understand or throws a fit, I think that will say a lot about his maturity level and help you determine whether or not the relationship has a chance at being long-term.

Tell Your Boyfriend You Need Some Girl Time

Tell him that you'd rather hang out with your friends this evening and that you will hang with him later! Tell him he's great and all, but you just want to party! If he takes it the wrong way, then obviously he's not a very good boyfriend!

You either take both in moderation or make a decision about one or the other.

Partying is fun but if he is a good male companion then I might think about trying to withdraw from the party.

Simple. All you gotta do is make plans with your friends in advance and then say, "Next saturday, I am going out with the girls." He can't argue with that! Just be sure to have plans so he doesn't feel like you are ditching him at the last second.

Tell your boyfriend that as much as you love him you need to have some girl time too. If he gets mad at you stand your ground and don't give in because you need to make you happy.
