Find the roots of the quadratic equation:
x^2-3x-10=0
thanks, I don't knoe how to explain to my neice how to do these. any help would be great.

For ax2 + bx + c = 0, the value of x is given by:

x = [ -b ± sqrt(b^2 - 4ac) ] / 2a



Note: You will have two answers.

factor it, find two numbers that multiply to -10 and add to -3. such as -5 and 2/ so it would be (x-5)(x+2)=0.
