Screw that - I'd settle for people who understood what the hell was happening in the countyr / world being the ones with the vote. Most of the voting morons I know - who probably need help to get dressed in the mornings let alone decide my future - are taxpayers...

Hey,
Well nearly everyone pays tax. It depends what sort of tax you're talking about. Okay some people wont pay income tax, but indirect taxes, they will. Such as cigarrettes, in the UK, you would pay £4.50 tax out of the £5 ish you spend.
So most people pay tax.
However, that does have difficulties, as what about 16year olds who pay tax? In that respect then why can't they have the vote? So not only would you change one thing, you'd have to change many aspects of the voting system.

i think it should be mandatory for everyone to vote. Voter apathy does not alter anything....however if the vote was law, even if you voted for no-one, at least no-one could win, if all the candidates were inappropriate. At the moment we have no choice to evict any of them.....

Monty brewster says 'Vote for none of the above'...it would make the politicians work harder to ensure the needs of the people were truly being met.

Can you find anyone who doesn't pay taxes? Sales tax, gasoline tax, sin tax, income tax, property tax, and more are all taxes. It'd be near impossible to live in the US today without paying any taxes.
So no, it'd be absolutely pointless.
