Do you need an update to use SD cards on your Wii?

I have a Wii, but I don't know about this. Also, do the games save on the game disc too? or just the system itself?

Yes, Recent updates (vers. 2.0) need to be installed to enable the SD Card function. You do that by connecting to the internet WiiConnect24 Service.

Games can be saved on SD Cards. I think it goes into the system by default.
