it's when the person presenting the story is also a character in the story.

the term "gonzo journalism" comes from "fear and loathing in las vegas", in which a reporter buries himself in his own story. he's supposed to be reporting on something, but becomes a character in the events as well.

another example is "gonzo porn", where the person holding the camera is also participating.

a gonzo is something crazy, or wierdish.

its more used as an adjective,(from what i know) but can also be a noun.
