I've been looking into it, and here's what I've determined.

If you really like the First person shooters and other violent games, and sports games, go with Xbox 360. They offer a lesser selection of non-shooter, non-sports games. $199 for the basic model and $299 for the deluxe. Choose the deluxe to get the hard drive and wireless controllers. They are easily available.

If you really like a wide variety of games, and don't mind paying double the price of the other 2 systems, buy a PS3. Around $599 in the store - IF you can find one. Good luck with that.

If you like a more family oriented console, with less games than the PS3 will have, go with the more affordable Wii. Around $250 in the store, if you can find one, but more available than the PS3.

Two other things to factor in:
1. If you have an HD set to play on, both the PS3 and Xbox 360 take advantage of that. The Wii does not.

2. I've listened to people who have the Wii, who typically are not big gamers, and they've said that they are thoroughly enjoying themselves in a way they haven't with other consoles. Maybe it's a breakthrough that the seldom-gaming masses will enjoy too.

If it was up to me I would chose either the xbox 360 or the Wii, most likely the xbox 360. Sure the PS3 has good graphics, however its gonna take a couple of years for them to come out with new games. For example games like Legend of Zelda or final fantasy verses XIII won't come out till 2008. I don't know if you want to wait that long. Xbox 360 has great graphics. The Wii looks very fun, it may have a disadvantage since the controller is so unique it won't be able to play a lot of games on it. So I say xbox 360. With its graphics, and a variety of many games its a sure good deal.

I love the XBox 360 because it's proven and it has a large library of games.

The Wii's control setup is interesting, though its visuals really don't seem any better than the XBox 360; I'm expecting to buy next year once the system's been out there a while.

The PS3 is all hype and since most of them are broken? Not going for it, never going for it. It's kludgy, too expensive, and if you actually read the tech specs, you won't be very impressed.

It really depends on what you want. If you want good gameplay, but low graphics go for Wii. If you want fair gameplay, and awesome graphics go for Xbox 360. If you're going for it all (good graphics and gameplay) at a what I consider high price go for Playstation 3. Personally I'd go for Wii
