stairs are built to go up and down.while watching builders put in stairs they start at the top and work their way to the bottom. So I think that stairs go down.

Stairs don't move. They are just there for you to go up or down.

I will tell you why, the saying what goes up must come down, stairs were originally designed so we could go up the down part is jus cos we have to.

That would depend on which way you are going. In you are in a mall some would have escalators ( moving stairs ) that can go up or down.

Good question. When they are constructed I would say they go up as they reach the top. But then again, is a glass of water half full or half empty?
