You're going to be sore, swollen and bloody and uncomfortable anyway for awhile afterwards. Trust me, at that point, you're not going to care about the pad. You're going to have your new baby and be bleeding dark blood clots. If you want to bring your own pads, do so. But they even have mesh underwear for you to wear because it is so much down there that you're going to need the big pads. Do not wear tampons! You may have stitches too which make it even more uncomfortable.
Honestly, I always used what the hospital gave me and was just grateful something caught the mess so my PJ's didn't. Once the blood clots stop, then I'd switch to regular pads. Just my opinion. Good luck with your delivery!

Just by some extra thin extra absorbant pads. They are always going to feel icky and some what like a diaper but, they are better than the pads that are as thick as a mattress.
I don't use them either but, being that you can't use the other after having a baby that seems like the best alternative.

your not going for comfort here the 1st week you bleed so much i never had any single pad on long enough to care what it felt like. After the week i used thin pads except at night when i had to use overnight pads. It's a discomfort but tampons are not a option.

Bring your own pads and get the ones that are flatter and not as bulky. That is the only thing that I felt would work. Still big, but flat. The ones at the hospital that they give you are just too huge

You can bring your own pads to the hospital so you don't have to use the bulky ones they supply. You can wear regular pads and maybe even liners or light day pads and just change them frequently. Other than that I don't think there's anything else that is safe to use i.e. tampons, diva cup, sponge, etc...

I took my own pads and underwear to the hospital...they make a super absorbant thin pad. I used those and my own underwear...way more comfortable than the hospital ones. If the flow is heavy...just change it more often.

this is my 3rd preg and my doctor says you must wear a pad no matter what even if the feel like a diaper for a minimum of 6 weeks after your first checkup after that if the all clear is given then you may wear tampons again but not before.

This might sound gross, but I have heard that before they had pads they used wash rages as pads.

Try always ultrathins. they are thin but work great. I hated the big "diapers" they give you in the hospital too.

It depends on how heavy your blood flow is. I used Kotex overnights. They were comfortable for me. Good luck.
