I have ahd them do well together, but not many times. Bettas basically are an offshoot of gourmis and they occupy the same space, demands, etc. Hiding places won't really work, gouramis don't do well at hiding. As the gouramis mature they will see the betta as a threat and the betta may see the gouramis as a threat. You can try it I have had it work 2 of the 9 times I tried it.

I dont say betta splenden cant be placed with other fish however its like playing with fire, you have to be ready to get burned.
Depending on what types of gouramis you're using then you can put together a nice setup here. In my experience with gouramis (havent dealt with alot of bettas) Some can be very placid fish, some can be very vigorous ones. Also it is notable that the gourami and betta splenden are of the same familae.
Gouramis like an opaline gourami aka "Blue three-spot gourami" are much more agressive than others like the orange thick lipped gourami or the pearl gouramis. I would expect a blue gourami to cause trouble with a betta (not necessarily the betta causing trouble with the gourami).
However a gourmi like the dwarf may be too small or "mellow" for a betta to enjoy the company of.
Here's my suggestion
2 Pearl / Mosaic Gouramis (male/female or 2 females)
1 Orange thick lipped Gourami or a Golden Gourami
1 Betta Splenden
With gouramis territory seems less of an issue than with a betta. I've seen gouramis mixed with african cichlids, I've seen them mixed with mollies and tetras too. If they're starting to get in the way of a fish, usually without much uproar, they'll swim out to the top end of the tank and stay there where its peaceful.
Hope this helps. Pearl gouramis are beautiful! I hope I can switch you up on them :D

Bettas and Gouramis are too closely related to get on well togher, regardles of fins and coloration. There may be some people who've done it successfully, but they are the exceptions, not the standard. If you're willing to take the risk of losing fish, go ahead and try, but the odds are against you.

depanding on tank size and water currents the gourami may be bullied a lil the gouramis may bite the betta later on but if you feed them well they should be able to get along for awhile until the guouramis get too large--- i had gouramis with bettas but i ahd a divider for the gourami a double tail betta and a normal betta.

Gouramis are from the same family as bettas and they rarely get along. INfact gouramis always win the battle.

bettas do go well with with most fish except other bettas and gouramis. sorry to tell you that... the gourami would probably kill the betta because they're bigger and faster.

We tried that and for as much as you would think that may work, it doesn't. Our Siamese fighting fish got eaten by the kissing Gourami's. Sorry to burst you bubble, but the only place a Beta Coax is safe is in his own bowl.
