Naruto came to Japan television on 2002 and the original comic series debuted at arround 1999-2000. They year it was translated into English and debuted on North American television is 2005.

Avatar was made and finally debuted at 2004, the year before the translators/editors allow Naruto to be brocasted.

Naruto was originally made in Japan while Avatar is American, so it could be a coincedence. Or the reverse, Naruto influenced Avatar instead. After all, Naruto had been quite huge in Japan for a while.

I think both are adorable and turned out much better than expected. Both have beautiful animation and interesting characters, but I think that the character development in Naruto is far more advanced and a bit deeper. Avatar tends to rely a bit too much on humor for my tastes, as well (although it is cute). However, the dubbing for Naruto is notoriously bad, while Avatar was made by English speakers and so has very effective, accurate language. Naruto also has those terrible episodes which drag on and on and advance the plot in no way. The manga lacks these periods, however. So! I'm gonna stick with Naruto for my vote, 'cause the manga makes up completely for anything the anime lacks.

Indeed Avatar is not anime. But the style of it was based on it to be as close to looking like anime. This can be also seen on the shows Teen Titans, Totally Spies, and even the Boondocks.

But to answer. Besides whats true to what spectator said. The only similarity between these 2 are the use of chi. Avatar not only has martial arts but the art of bending by useing Chi to manipulate certain elements. Naruto has characters use chakra in order to perform abilities and summon. Of course this kind of thing has been the setting for many other cartoons. But besides that and spectator's fact again. I see no other reason for Naruto to even being close to Avatar or vice versa.

Naurto is the only true anime amongst the two series, Avatar isn't a anime since it's not made in japan but in America. So the answer is no, it isn't a duplication, in fact the manga for naruto is a few years old.

Um, no. No, not at all. First, it would have to be the other way around, because Naruto was first published 4 or 5 years ago in Japan. Second, they're not really that alike. One has to do with just ninjas, and the other...well, I'm not quite sure. I've heard it is very good for Americanime, though.

Nope. Naruto is about ninjas and their lives.... and demons. Avatar the last airbender is about some kid controlling the wind. Both fictional, yet Naruto is way more interesting.
