I bought a phone from ebay a while back and had no problems. There are quite a few 'Powersellers' on ebay that are real companies that do most of their business through ebay. I would say that's your best bet. They have good prices, and you can be pretty well assured that their goods aren't stolen. Most of the ads i looked at were very specific as to which type of service they would work with, such as Cingular. You should just be able to keep your SIM card and use it on the new PDA, and cingular will never have to know you switches unless you want some special feature you don't currently have. the Sellers themselves would be good people to ask to make sure all the details are straight. good luck.

That is really risky

I think that you would have much better luck if you by from your provider not a third party

Its kind of like buying a car form an person instead of a dealer

TOO Risky

the phone you buy needs to be on the same network as your sim or it needs to be unlocked to all networks. have a good read off the sellers feedback.
