My daughter aged 10 wants one for Christmas, what exactly is it and what does it do, are there games or something you have to get after you get this MP3 player thingy. Is she old enough to have one and how much do they cost. I hear people talking about them but don't know what they are.

an MP3 Player just holds songs and music, and allows the owner to listen to these tracks on the go. They start from about £12, but the more you pay, the more songs they store. I don't think she's too young and the only expense after buyin it is batteries..... may i suggest rechargables!!!! Hope this helps.

and MP3 player is a digital music player. the most common of course is the iPod. You put music on your computer from CD's you own or Song you pay money to download off of iTunes, and you hook your MP3 player to your computer via a USB cable and put the music on the MP3 player from your computer. You can then walk around with your MP3 player and a pair of headphones and listen to your music wherever you go, and with the right adapter you can listen in the car. MP3 players are not made for games at all, but the newly released iPod actually comes with some games such as Tetris and Solitaire. iPod's range from about 100 bucks to 400 bucks, depending on the hard drive size you buy. The bigger the hard drive, the more music you can have with you at all times. That's an MP3 player. Hope this helps.

I have an ipod nano, and that is an MP3 player. THere are tons of others, too. You plug your Mp3 player into the computer, and put music on it. My nano was a hundred something bucks, I can't really remember. She's old enough to have it if she can listen to music.

They cost from 10 quid
They play music files which you get from your computer (legally)
On some ipods (180 quid) they can play games and videos but then that is really an mp4 player.
She is old enough to have one, if you feel your are ok with her listening to music.

It's a music player, like a walkman only no need for tapes or CD's, it's all saved on a computer, and in the memory of the player
