Metal Gear Solid was and still is the greatest videogame ever made.
At the time the first one came out no other game even came close to how great the game was.
The sequals have all been great too

Doom for the computer. Yeah, the 1st one from the early 90's. It ranked 2nd best videogame ever created in Entertainment Weekly. It's fast, fun, intense, the music is AWESOME, the monsters are scary and sound scary sometimes and the atmosphere is creepy and sometimes disturbing. You can find some horrific stuff as you journey through the game (Ex. Pentagrams, skulls, black candles, chunks of blown up human, bloody soldiers, blue flames (Hellfire), green flames, whole cities you visit in flames as high as the sky, dead people on altars, all sorts of Satanic symbols, legs hanging from the ceilings, people on stakes, skinned people, people severed in half, rivers of blood...so many nightmares...) It is one of the most intense action games ever!

The only game I've never traded in is Super Smash Bros. Melee for Gamecube. I bet the next is gonna blow it out of the water.

I prefer Civilization 4 myself. It's an epic, turn-based empire-building game.
