PhD. degree a custodian in a museum has, for example, since no janitor would be allowed to clean Mona Lisa's painting, or maintain the rare manuscripts.
In the industry the custodian jobs include: general building maintenance, janitorial duties, and floor maintenance, sometimes grounds maintenance as well. Janitorial usually refers to cleaning only.
