When writing a book, when should I cite sources (like with a footnote) and when is just having the book in the bibliography enough? I'm paranoid about being accused of plagerism, but I don't want every paragraph of the book to have citation footnotes and become unreadable.

u make a works cited page, dont use food notes , u use mla or apa writing style to make a workscited, that is if u quote or use anything or liek read it and put the knwoledge u gain from it in ur paper or book, if u are writing a book adn get ideas from someone else u must at the end cite ur work, go to www.mla.org i think or jus google it, and use mla or apa, u just cite the book by author and title and publisher, its fairly simple and will save u from ebig accused of plagerism! so yeah u put the works cited at the end of ur book and u dont have to use footnotes then!

You need to cite a source when writing a non-fiction work imparting quoted factual information verbatim (word-for-word), rather than your own thoughts, ideas and opinions.

When you are simply making a reference in your own words to something someone else has said or written, then you can just include the details in the bibliography.

Cite sources when...

You make a direct quote.
You state an idea that is not originally your own, but one that you got from another person or a publication.

Your opinions are your own.

during my senior thesis in college i was given good advice...when in doubt cite.. Dont over do it because it will look like you wont contribute thoughts of your own but for clear cut facts you should always cite. Its better than being called a plagarizer
