that chavez is a mini-castro. who wants to bring socialism back to venezuela. i have lived in spain who is also socialism and it can be ok, but the idea that he wants the country to carry the only color red instead of their traditions colors, to also follow the ideas and works of fidel castro , who when it power changed his socialism to communision. Chavez is a madman. with crazy ideas that he is going to help the poor (same as castro) , bring more power to the country by closing free trade with the united states, and welcoming other south and central countries joined in his power. this all sounds to me, to easily as castro brought in the soviet union (before the soviet union was torned down). I honeslty think there are too many blinded sided people who instead of looking at the past mistakes that other countries have done, think that Chavez will be good for venezuela. this is my opinion, does anyone else have an educational opinion to give.

Chavez is offering a new way. History has conclusively shown that allying with the US and IMF is a huge mistake for 3rd world countries. Chavez is doing what he can to become independent from US hegemony and economic slavery of the IMF.

Until Chavez stops elections and does not leave office he is not Castro.

Although, I admit he was like Castro when he nationalized the nations most valuable resource. However it was in the best interest of the country to nationalize their oil fields. The previous agreements were unfair to the people and were bought with bribes to the government.

Castro's true sin was nationalizing the Oil fields and that is the why the US opposed him and drove him into Russia's arms.

Bottom line, Chavez's action are a REACTION to " past mistakes that other countries".

Unfortunately, cutting off ties with the United States for whatever reason makes the US obligated to cause as much trouble as possible for your country. This is what they did to Cuba which survives just fine.

Castro is not a madman i.e. nobody in Cuba is abused by government and everybody is taken care of. Wish the US could say the same but nope.

Anyways, good luck Chavez!
