I didn't really take it as a heaven thing. I took it as if was about the things you did in life that may have impacted someone else's life and you never knew it.

This is a very difficult question to answer. On one hand you would have the religous aspect who would suggest that when you die and go to heaven, you will be met by the people that had the most influence on your life. They would say that these people were the angels that were guiding you to do what god intended you to do with your life. On the other hand you will have the people that believe in re-incarnation telling you that these people that you meet influenced your life or you influenced their life and now you will meet them to find out why you two met in the first place on earth.
It was a very touching movie and should be viewed by everybody so they can base their own answers on it. Life is short and everything that you do or don't do influences the lives of so many. It is among the great movies like "It's a wonderful life" that answer the question what if I was never born.
Enjoy life.

It's about the here and now - and how those actions that we take affect our living life.
Although there are elements of Afterlife/Destiny thrown in. Specifically with the idea that he felt his life was meaningless, yet it was revealed that his life was exactly as it should have been regarding not being able to have children. Because his not being able to have children afforded him and his wife the ability to focus on the children who visited the park, who might otherwise not have gotten the attention he was able to lavish upon them. He was able to give attention/love/kindness to many...

One message was that we are all connected whether we know it or not and we should care more about each other. For me, personally, I think of all the people who are dying in Iraq and Darfur and that we are connected as fellow human beings and that we should care profoundly and lessen all the nationalistic selfishness.

i think its about how we don't appreciate life and how little time we spend thinking how we affect others by our actions. then when death is knocking on the door do we realize this.

i think its about the effect that people have on other people's lives. something so small for one person (something they may forget or not even care to notice), can be the whole world to another
