I just tested with the Azo test strips and they came out positive for an infection. My dr. is closed and I am really in pain. The pain hurts in my back and my pelvic area. My urine is actually coming out a pinkish color. I am assuming its are UTI or possibly maybe a stone. Not to sure. I couldn't get in touch with my Dr. today ( how nice tried calling all day). so I am looking for something I can do at home for now to atleast help out a bit.

You can buy the Uristat pills over the counter for the pain until your doctor opens. If you have questions about which pills to buy the pharmacy will know which ones are best.

There's nothing much you can do except take some Advil and drink lots and LOTS of liquid (water is probably best). Don't force yourself to pee, even if you feel like you really need to. That can actually cause some of the bleeding (the pinkish tinge). Make sure that you actually have something in your bladder to pee out. Keep a glass of water by your bed tonight, and drink from it whenever you wake up.

I've had a UTI before, and I know how badly it can hurt. You're in for a long night. I hope you feel better soon!

Until you can see the doctor and get some antibiotics I recommend drinking as much water as possible to flush the infection out and also try and buy some Urinary Alkalinizer ( a dis solvable tablet). These are available in a chemist over the counter or even at most supermarkets. If you are in Australia I know Ural is the name of one brand of these tablets. Good luck.

Increase fluid intake and drink juice like cranberry and go to Doctor tomorrow. At the doctors office I worked in they would let women come in for urinalysis without an appointment and then work you in if urine positive. So maybe tomorrow you could just show up. Show up early and it will take less time like right when they open as they won't be behind yet.

Azo has a drug out (over the counter) for UTI's and it does work. May not take the pain away right away, but the pain is gone within 24 hours.

Cranberry juice is the best at-home treatment. Regular, and plain...no sugar added. I would see your Dr. asap though because it sounds like there is blood in your urine, and I don't think that is a typical sign of a tract infection

You most definately need to see a Dr. There is something you could do for a mild infection but you are in pain - so professional medical attention is what you need.

Drink plenty of water, and go to your local urgent care clinic. Or your doctor should also have an after-hours/emergency line... call them on that. If this is a recurrent problem for you they will often call in a prescription over the phone.

I have heard that cranberry juice helps. Take something for pain.
You could always ask a pharmacist what to take. If it continues to get worse, see a doctor, please. The urinary tract infection could spread to your kidneys and cause infection or worse, kidney damage.

See a doctor pronto!!! If it hurts in your back, it may have gotten into your kidneys. Its nothing to play with. Damaged kidneys are NOT good.

Drink, cranberry juice, sure.....but GO SEE A DOCTOR!!!

Good luck. Pops
