Sun:

Surface temperature 5785 K
Temperature of corona 5 MK
Core temperature ~13.6 MK
Note: 10^6 K = 1 megakelvin (MK)

Lightning:

around 28,000 K - 30,000 K

So, lightning is hotter than the SURFACE, but not hotter than the corona or core.

Lightning is hotter than the sun, heard it on quite a few Storm programs on like...Discovery.
