On Yahoo Answers? I doubt it! In real life interaction people face each other and have discussions, but the Internet is anonymous. Many people are more willing to state radical opinions in an extreme manner because there is less recourse and definitely less chance of getting punched in the nose. Could people get along? Yes if they chose to, but it is not going to happen. Much of what passes for political discussion on Yahoo Answers is purely designed to inflame rather than address actual issues of the day. Both sides are equally guilty and neither shows any evidence of change any time soon.
Edit: The answers you are receiving here is a prime example of why it won't happen. In order for people to find common ground, they must first admit there is common ground. Just look at the answers here, most cannot fault their own side in the slightest, but instead place all the blame on the other.

There seems to be virtually no common ground, and the lack of ability for Republicans to acknowledge any real facts or debate any points seriously is boundless.
I say no. As they like to say, "If you don't like it, get out!" This is our country again, so love it or leave it.

sure, the ones that just read question and rarely answer the silly questions can probably get along pretty well... but a lot of people are on here to rile each other up.. those guys will never get along.....

Not after events of the past few weeks, with the repubs reverting to type at every opportunity, reporting and getting suspensions on people's accounts. I say never.

I have found common ground with self-described liberals on this site.
I have daily communication with one of them.
I think we women do a better job of finding common ground (no offense meant to the guys).
