I thought it was illegal to have sex with an under 16 year old?
yet there is a TV programme on showing these teenage mums, who got preggers at 14 etc..
why aren't they (or the males as it takes 2 to tango) ever prosecuted for commiting a crime?

In the UK it is illegal only if the minor makes a formal complaint of statutory rape.

In many states there is an allowance of a 2 year difference. If the girl is 14 the guy can not be older than 16.

Unless there's a significant age difference or unless the sex wasn't consensual it's true they aren't. But then what good would that do?
If they have unluckily screwed up their lives (pun intended) why make things worse? These kids need support and sympathy. To have their partners or themselves stuck in court does nobody any good.

The child who became pregnant wasn't breaking the law, it was the perpetrator who is 18 or older who is accountable to the law. I think you need to educate yourself in order to formulate a semi-intelligent question.

Its not illegal to have sex if your under 16. If it was who would go to jail? the guy, the girl or both? Its illegal to have sex with a minor if you are an adult but thats about it.

If the male is under 18 he can have sex with someone 4 years younger than him

To be honest I`ve never heard of anyone being prosecuted for it. They should be though, after all is supposed to be illegal. It`s ridiculous 14, & 15 year old girls getting pregnant. They don`t know what they`re letting themselves in for. Stupid cows.

only if they are adults "getting it" with children . . children "getting it" with children is not illegal . . two 14 year olds is not illegal
