I don't think it's possible to always be happy. I think it's possible to be content, although it's rare. Human existence is defined by purpose. If we cease to want, and cease to need our existence becomes meaningless. Personally, I'm content with my drive to create new art and my endless search for meaning.

Taking things a day at a time, not looking to far ahead, not expecting anything from anyone else. Doing the best you can, knowing you will make mistakes along the way, but learning from those mistakes. Showing compassion to those who are less fortunate than you are. Finding the humor in the moment, no matter how dreadful the situation.....sometimes things get so ridiculously out of your control that you just gotta laugh at it and move on. Don't be too hard on yourself or anyone else, everyone is just trying to do better today than they did yestereday.
Do this and you will be happy. Guaranteed.

I myself am very happy in this life. I am not rich, but I have enough and I donate to those who don't. I am healthy, but I care about the sick and try to comfort them. Yes, people who are healthy and rich generally are happier then those who are sick and don't have as much money, but that doesn't mean they don't care about others. There are some rich people in our country who don't give a second glance to a man on the street, but they are vastly outnumbered by those who care and help. There also are many people that may be stricken with a deadly disease, but they live on happily, enjoying what time they have left.

Just look around, look at the fit and able helping those who are handicaped and you'll see what I mean. Humans were meant to survive and it's in our nature to help and protect those who are in harms way. I am sorry if you don't see society this way and hope that maybe someday you will see what I mean.

really, all this negativity is not good. be thankful for each and every day that you have and learn to appreciate what you are given. do not judge other people, you don't know another persons situation without having gone through it yourself. if you feel you are following a mirage you will never reach, perhaps you need to re-evaluate your path.

Those who serve God in accordance with right doctrine or practice are happy. They have discovered that seemingly elusive secret to life. Of course, being happy does not mean having a perpetual smile on one's face. Happiness is an inward condition of the heart.

We are in a material world and therefore we are never happy even though we may say we are.The human mind is always thinking "oh I need this I need that" and never stops, only when we reach the spiritual world is one completely happy!

I think you're confusing envy, and desire with happiness.

Unfortunately desire is only human, but just because you desire something does not mean that you are unhappy. If you allow yourself to desire something so badly that you're unhappy, that's your own fault (and I say "your" but i mean humans in general)

I am very happy and content with my life right now, but that doesn't mean that I won't stop setting goals for myself and moving forward. It's when you stop doing those things that you become unhappy.

I have, actually. She's a reiki healer. She's either the happiest person I've ever met, or the best actor I've ever met. Nothing gets this girl down, she's got 'happy' energy to spare.
