My stepchildren’s mother passed away suddenly on Monday morning and I am wondering when/if/ or how long it will take to be listed in the obituary section of the newspaper. I am not sure if the death is something listed by the hospital or if the family has to provide that information. Also, how long does it take from the time of death to the availability of the death certificate?

Any help provided will be much appreciated.

The hospital doesn't publish obits. That is done by the family and usually handled by the Funeral Home that is handling the arrangements.

It is the families choice of what papers it runs in, and it usually is within a day of being sent to the paper.
