There are many ways of animating in 2d.

You can go for Photoshop with Image Ready. Where you can work layers and animate 2d.

There is also the option of doing this via the whole Creative Suite o Creative Suite 2. you can look at it at: www.adobe.com


next is the macromedia option (which now is an adobe subsidiary) which is flash or macromedia studio 8. There are links in Adobe's page to macromedia ones.

Third would be the option by efrontier: Anime Studio Pro 5, which you can look at at efrontier's page.

You can also do 2d animation inside After Effects from Adobe.

And last you can render animations through other software like discreets 3dstudio,maya, combustion and others used in post production.

Um.. Macromedia Flash is what a lot of people use..

personally, i cant get it to work well.. but so many others have...
