5 girls and 1 boy

However, after re-reading your question and the other responses. I have noticed something in the wording of your question. In the main body you have the ratio ... girls to boys... which would leave mine correct. On the other hand, in the explanations section you have the ratio .... boys to girls which would require the reverse of 5 boys and 1 girl. Thought, I would point out that situation in your varying reponses.

As you know, a 5:7 ratio can mean 5 parts to 7 parts.

To solve this problem you would have to first add up the ratios (5+7) to find out how much is 1 part. This gets you 12; you then divide the total by this amount, giving you 2.

Here you multiply 2 by the amount of parts for each gender to find the number of that gender in the class of 24.

2*5=10 boys
2*7=14 girls

Now with the other ratio. 30 kids with a ratio of 1:1, which means there are 15 boys and 15 girls. (You can get this from repeating the above) Now simply subtract this by the current number of boys, then with girls.

15-10=5 boys added
15-14=1 girl added

so how many kids are there now
5:7 5+7 =12 wowsers times 2 = 24

must mean that the class has 10 girls and 14 boys

so in a class of 30 with a 1:1 ratio
how many does it take to get to 15 - 15 ?

u solve from here

You need to add 6 kids to go from 24 to 30.

30 kids, 1 to 1 ratio, means you need 15 boys and 15 girls.

Then you need to find out: how many boys (or girls) are there right now, and how do I get to 15.

5 to 7 ratio; combined that's 12. 24/12 equals 2. You will find (5 times 2) boys and (7 times 2) girls.

Combined with the other part this means you need to add 5 boys and one girl.

5b + 7g = 24
solve that for an answer with whole numbers or something. That is how many of each right now.

10 boys and 14 girls is 10:14 which is 5:7.

Then what do you need to add so there are 15 of each (30 with 1:1 ratio is 15 each).
