With your emails.....when you throw away stuff into the trash where does it go?

Is there a way for someone to find it and read through my old emails? I was just wondering. I am new to all of this computer stuff, so thank you in advance for the answers.

*and it is not because I am up to no good, it is a real question. I don't want people snooping through my stuff. Cause I do share a computer here at the office.

* is it the same with gmail accounts too?

Most likely, people you share a computer with can't look at emails you've deleted;provided you never reveal your password and always log out of your account after using it.
However,be aware that even after emptying your trash folder,your emails are not permanently deleted.They are still stored on someone's server,whether that's Yahoo,Hotmail or Google.From what I know,they are required by law to keep logs for a certain period of time.Basically,everything you do or say on the internet can be traced back to you.

For regular email accounts you can empty your deleted folders and they dissappear. If you use Outlook or Express - then there is a way for an advanced computer user (usually techs) to scan your hard drive and find old emails and data files.

when u delete it its gone enless it shows up in the deleted emails folder when u sign in to your email account, but usually after a day or so they are gone forever
