seems as if everyone's m.o. is selfish. how come no one really does whats really right, just what is in the best interest of finance or lifestyle. no one wants to be a generally good and caring person with good moral.

after being hurt by the ones i loved and homeless,i used to be a f***ed up person, robbed, and fought people until i had an epiphany (after being awake two weeks) saying, "who am i to do this to someone", "who am i to hurt another living being, even if its for means of survival" i found myself rather be hungry do without and even dead without hurting someone else (even through words) other than the time i was a f***ed up *****, i have always done what was in the bestinterest of someone else and never wanted to see anyone feel bad. the people closest to me know this, but still they just want to hurt me or want nothing to do with me. i dont understand

Because they ARE selfish. It is difficult to be a "good" person amongst all the others out there and it's easier to be an idiot - apparently!

p.s Don't let them grind you down though. You keep on being a good person and doing the roght thing, too many have already lowered their standards to that of the majority!

Good luck!

OMG, deja vu big time, listen to what I wrote on MySpace:

"The greater comprehension you have of life, the more you realize how ****** up it really is, people in particular. I believe too many have no desire to do what is right over what is personally beneficial or what happens to be of greater convenience."

I ask myself and others the same question frequently. I by know means pretend to have it all figured out but I can offer my thoughts.

Through evolution, self-survival has become a beneficial attribute. As we as humans have developed higher thought, a conscience, the qualities that make up what one could call the soul, we have advanced past this simple/primitive need for self-service at all costs(specifically, the cost to others). If only everyone could be good at heart, but unfortunately the world is not the way it should be. A lot of people are just heartless, aweful but real. If only it were different. It is easy to not care, but I think it is not all that hard TO CARE. You have to want to care and try to think and understand the reasons to care, they are definately there. Ponder it, persue it, live it, love it, and practice it. I wish you well, Jack of Hearts

Some people do. Just seems like we're constantly bombared with stories of people who f* up and do stupid stuff. I guess it's generally more interesting than hearing about the nice things people do. But ya know, a lot of famous people who have lots of money are always giving to charity and trying to make the world a better place in some way or another (ie: Bill and Melinda Gates, Oprah, Brangelina, Andre Agassi, etc, to name a very few) so that gives me hope.

If you look for the good stuff, you can find it. Don't despair!

I've been a good person all my life, I'm generous & helping, I put everyone else before my self , but I'm just tired of waiting for some kindness to come back around, so just how long can a person wait, or continue being nice when all they get in return is nothing & a feeling of a lot of wast of time trying.

I think there's plenty of people out there who are trying to do the right thing. However, a person who never thinks of themself will end up an empty shell. It's best to strike a balance. In our relations with other people we have to give AND receive. Maybe you've just come upon more takers than givers.

"no one" is a bit hyperbolic, eh? but, the essence of the question is, sadly, on point. we live in a culture that is, at root, hyper- materialistic, fear driven, and, generally, devoid of any scintilla of depth. obviously, a glaring generalization, but you know what i mean. with the majority of folks "happy" with a non-individuated, clone like state of being, what else would you expect? the "elite" (read psychopaths) who run the show, may be relatively evil, but they're not stupid. programming of the masses for its (their) role as slaves and soylent green apprentices starts early and is relentless. i could rant endlessly, of course, but my intuition is that you are already aware of the program. your task is to lead a conscious, caring life. while the majority may not be doing so, quite a few still do. so, don't be a "victim"--get out there and do what you understand to be the "better way". be courageous, be determined! btw check out the book *the complete idiot's guide to toltec wisdom* and the site http://www.sahajayoga.com you'll understand why once you review them. in the land of the troglodytes, the sensitive person is appreciated. best of luck ;-)

O COMPANION OF MY THRONE!

Hear no evil, and see no evil, abase not thyself, neither sigh nor weep. Speak no evil, that thou mayest not hear it spoken unto thee, and magnify not the faults of others that thine own faults may not appear great; and wish not the abasement of anyone, that thine own abasement be not exposed. Live then the days of thy life, that are less than a fleeting moment, with thy mind stainless, thy heart unsullied, thy thoughts pure, and thy nature sanctified, so that, free and content, thou mayest put away this mortal frame, and repair unto the mystic paradise and abide in the eternal kingdom for evermore.

There are some who tire of throwing themselves again through the wood chipper, but maybe you're just not able to see them yet. If you always gaze at the quagmire, you'll notice everyone is stuck.

I am a vegetarian, I give to charity, recycle, and try to help people out when I can. There are plenty of good people out there. Maybe you are hanging with the wrong crowd.

speak for yourself buddy....each of us has been taught good from bad, right from wrong. it's individual choice how we use that knowledge. I'm sorry that you don't see kindness and goodness in human nature. it is also true that we learn to be haters, we are not born that way. if you constantly find yourself in the company of haters, move along....do something about it. it's your choice who you hang out with. you do not have to buy into others negativity....spread your own goodness, it's catchy.
