I was pretty miserable. Developed Belz Paulsy and my face was paralyzed. Could not shut my eye to sleep at night. Had to be put on steriods for the paralysis. The also could not be 100% sure I did not suffer a stroke unitl the baby was delivered so they induced me about a week and a half early.

I have been induced twice, for different reasons. For the first baby, at my last checkup I was already at 3 cm and fully effaced. My doc was planning leaving town next weekend, and my husband had a business trip planned as well. Since I was only a week early, we decided to have the baby that day. Needless to say, hubby didn't go on that business trip after all :)
The second baby was trickier. I had high blood pressure - but not preeclampsia. (They're not the same thing - but high blood pressure can lead to the other). My doc was worried that I would have problems, so again, I was induced.
It's not so bad to be induced. But if you are, don't try to be a hero and do the rest naturally. Your body isn't being let to have it's own cycle, so the contractions come faster or slower, and can be harder and more painful. Get the epidural if you're induced - then labor becomes much easier, and even enjoyable!

I was induced with both of my girls. Well I was in a lot of pain due to the size of the baby (neither was really big but I have arthritis and it was making my back hurt) And for some unknown reason my body would not go into labor. But I wasn't overdue, I actually think both of them were a week to a week and a half early. I don't regret it at all, I was in labor less than 4 hours with each of them. The 1st time they gave me Demerol after I started having contraction, that was stupid cause then I could still feel the pain but I wasn't in my right mind enough to do anything about it. But after the epidural it was great. The second time I just toughed it out until they gave me the epidural. Again after that it was good... but I wouldn't do it naturally because the contraction are much harder and longer.

I have had three babies so far and all three were induced. With my oldest she was two weeks past due and running out of room. When she was born she was almost ten pounds. With my second he was late too. My third baby was induced because I had IGUR, inter unterine growth retardation. (it is when your placenta doesn't function that well and baby doesn't get as much nutrition as possible. I was on bed rest for three months) The doc was keeping a pretty close watch on me and during a biophysical profile noticed that she no longer had the relfex to breath in the womb. He told me that it was okay, because she was getting all of her oxygen from me, but it was an indication that something could be going wrong. He induced the next day. I have three perfectly healthy children now.

I was in labor for 40 hours with my first child. With my second child, my doctor was afraid it would happen again plus the fact I was already a week past my due date. So we agreed to induce labor and after only 4 1/2 hours I had my son.

My water broke 2 days after my due date. I was not having any contractions whatsoever even several hours after. The doctor said the baby had to be delivered in 24 hours to avoid infection and other complications. I was already scheduled to induce at 41 weeks if I didn't go into labor.

Well, I was 39 weeks preggers and I went in for my doctors appt. on a Wednesday. My doc checked my cervix and for the previous 2 weeks, I wasn't really dialting. I was stuck at "almost 1" and when they checked my blood pressure the last 2 times, it was kinda high. She just looked at me and said, "Do you want to have your baby this weekend? I am working all weekend and I will be here." I looked at her and said, "Is that an option?" and she said yes. At this particular hospital, they offer it to women that are at least 39 weeks gestation. I was so happy. That Saturday was Oct. 14, my fiance's birthday. It worked out great. She was born on October 15 at 5:39 a.m. Unfortunately, I didn't have the greatest labor. I asked for pain meds and they couldn't give me the epidural yet, so they had to give me something that would make me sleep between contractions, but I didn't sleep. I had a bad side effect from the pain med. Not sure what it was - my doctor has it in my file never to give it to me again. I felt like I was crawling out of my skin! I was having anxiety attacks and everything. Be careful what you ask for for pain meds. The epidural was fine, but whatever they gave me before that was awful. I was in labor for 12 hours. My baby also swallowed and inhaled maconium (Poop) on the way out of the womb and she had to spend 1 week in the hospital (NICU) after she was born, but she is healthy and beautiful now. She is a handful!
AS hard as I "thought" being a mom was......................I am wising now, that it was that easy. It is so different than what I expected. I love it none the less. Congrats and good luck!

I was induced because I was due Aug 23, 1998 and still hadn't delivered by Sept 4, 1998--so they induced and at 9:32am on Sept 5, 1998 I finally delivered that toddler (I say this because he was my third and weighed in at 8lb, 15 oz--my first two were only 6lbs 9oz and 6lbs 7oz---my son was just big and none of the "baby" clothes I bought fit him

my due date was 10/14 and i went to the hospital 10/19 to be induced and had him on 10/20/99. the reason he induced was because the baby was so big and my doctor was afraid i wouldn't be able to deliver any way other than c-section if we waited any longer, my son was 21 inches long and weighed 8lbs 7oz.
