Dr. Doom,

He is the most powerfull because he is immortal, not through any "power" but through the power of his intellect. He achieved what he is not because of some radioactive spider or a mistake or "government project" but because of sheer force of will against all odds.

The statement that "he became consious while still inside his mother's womb" pretty much sums up his force of will and personality.

He also brought about utopia, something no other super hero can put under thier belt. He created a world without war, without crime, without poverty and without famine, everyone was content. (Emporer Doom) And he did it without bloodshed.

He "beat the devil at his own game", he decieved the devil into releasing his mother's soul. (Triumph and torment)

He healed the wife of his arch-enemy reed richards when reed was not able to do so (who doom hates because he is the closest thing to his intellectual equal but doom feels that he squanders his intellect and feels reed is pompous) proving doom the better scientist and effectively winning him victory over him.

He has overcome the tragedies and hardships that no other comic character has endured and won.
From the loss of his mother to the devil mephisto, which sparked the cruel baron of latveria to hunt and kill his gypsy tribe, to his father dieing of freezing cold while trying to protect doom from it while they were running from the baron's soldiers.
To the torment of having an inferior classmate reed richards interrupt and spy on his experiment because reed could not read magic and wasn't able to understand dooms combination of science and magic.
To the devil mephisto toying with doom and destroying his face while attempting to contact his mother's soul through the use of technology and magic combined.

He is the #1 inventive mind of all heroes and the #2 sorcerer of earth. Stories of the future show of a doom that finds immortality through his inventions and cloning.

He has a code of honor that he adheres to no matter what even if it is against his interests.

I think that Batman is the greatset comic hero because he is very rich and he can be anything he wants but instead he chooses to fight crime eventhough he has no special powers. Because of this, he has to train hard while the other superheroes don't have to train as hard him.

Superman Forever.

The story goes to show how the influence over a child, good or bad, can control one's destiny.
What if baby Kal-El landed in Nazi Germany and landed in MR. and MRS. Hitler's backyard?
Or if he landed in Afghanistan at the bin Laden shyt-hole?

He landed near the home of a noble and meek farmer who taught him basic right and wholesomeness. Superman's sense of right, good and kindness came from his parents.

I like the spiderman story, mainly because it takes an average guy who gains incredible powers, all because of an accident. Of course, the recent movies have helped in my decision, as they were completely amazing.
