Yes, I realize it is really cold in winter, but I need a major change in my life. Any Alaskans here who truly love Alaska? Anyone tried living there and moved back to the lower 48? Opinions.

I agree with the person who said to search within and figure out what and why you are running to or from. No place will give you peace if you are not at peace inside. After that, come on up for a visit. I was born here and live in this beautiful state. Life is similar yet more, more, more than wonderful than anyplace in the lower 48. Research where you might want to live and visit then decide.

I think Alaska has that sort of Beauty Shock you can't get anywhere else in the states... Cold- yes... VERY... not to mention DARK for several months and LIGHT for some other months. Would I live there? No way man. You want a change- Go the other direction to Hawaii.... granted the skiing isnt great, but god, the beaches ROCK. A change of lifestyle- definitely.... I think every state has an appeal for different kinds of people. Try another country. I am currently in the UK... Culture shock for me.... and a different lifestyle... I probably wont EVER live here again once I leave... the UK is certainly an aquired taste.

I have lived here for over 20 years, I came up with my father. I did move away I came back.
Alaska is the only place you really snowmachine!! you have never done it until you do it here. Our fishing is the best catch a 300 pd Halibut in the summer and bar b q late in the night. I also go Jet sking in the summer, Last summer it was not as warm as earlier years but we do get warm weather the year before it reached 82 when I was jet sking. The mountains are beautiful and plentiful,
I know some people think we do not live like you guys however we do. We have everything you do but we have a bigger back yard.

I, too, really want to move there and everyone calls me crazy. It is supposed to be beautiful but the sunlight can be strange. I saw on the weather channel that they only had 5 hours of sunlight yesterday. So good luck and if you do move there, let ME know how it goes!
