YOU'LL BE GLAD TO KNOW THAT A DOCTOR WOULD BE ABLE TO DETERMINE IF BACK PAIN IS BEING FAKED CLINICALLY (THATS TO SAY, WITHOUT THE NEED OF INVESTIGATIONS). SCANS WOULD PROVE BEYOND DOUBT, AND WOULD HAVE THE ADDED BENEFIT OF PROVIDING EVIDENCE OF WHETHER ANY INJURY DISCOVERED WERE NATURAL ACCIDENTAL INJURIES OR SELF/DELIBERATELY INFLICTED (SOME DOCTORS SPECIALISE IN IDENTIFYING THESE FEATURES).
THE CONSEQUENCE MAY BE THAT A PSYCHIATRIC EVALUATION IS REQUESTED TO DETERMINE IF THE PATIENT HAS UNDERLYING ISSUES OR PSYCHIATRIC ILLNESS (SUCH AS MUNCHAUSEN'S SYNDROME - WHERE THE PT. FAKES OR INDUCES ILLNESS SO AS TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION).

Yes they can bluff it as a scan would only indicate bone or tissue damage but these are not necessarily the source of back pain.
However, I can't see any reason why anyone would WANT to bluff it unless it was for dishonest reasons, in which case they deserve to get caught out!

Somebody could probably lie about having back pain, but you wouldn't be able to tell for sure by running tests whether or not they are in pain....I broke my back in a car accident and the vertebrae are fully healed now, so on an x-ray everything looks great, but I'll be in pain everyday for the rest of my life....I think you would just have to decide whether or not you can trust that person to be telling the truth.

Yes, back pain can be "put on". Thats why so many people can get on Social Security and such. Some things show up on x-rays, MRIs, Mileograms but still there is things that can be seen. Back pain is probably one of the easiests thing to "put on". Technology is getting better and better tho and one day it won't work. MRIs have just bout reached that point now.
Good luck. Pops

I think it's the hardest thing to prove or disprove. Even if they get a clear scan or whatever, it doesn't prove the absence of pain or discomfort

back pain is a very difficult thing to prove or disprove as it doesnt show on xrays or the like .degenerative bone damage or boney injury does.

Yes they can. While x-rays and obvious discoloration can prove something is wrong. Muscle pain and nerve damage aren't really visible and can be easily faked.

no a person cant fake a back injury! if you have an xray or mri, it will show nothing if there is nothing wrong. if you legitimately have a back problem it will show it. so for your sake please dont fake it! thats why people who really do have back problems or injuries cant really get the help they need

but in the long term it will not be a good idea to have such a lie slashing down the middle of your life.

no. back pain is a 'laymans illness' in other words, its impossible to prove other wise. it could be nerve damage, bone, tendons, muscle, or discs. you have to take a persons word for it really.
