She's not even pregant yet! Is it possible to conceive twins naturally without any other sets in the past?

It is completely possible to have twins without a family history. I have no family history of twins and I'm the mother of twin girls! Here's a few facts:

1. Identical twins are from one egg that splits. It's a random act of nature and isn't influenced by family history, age, ethinicity or fertility drugs. Every pregnancy has a 1 in 250 chance of twins.

2. Fraternal twins occur when the female produces two eggs and both are fertilized. Family history of twins increases your chances but other things can too.

3. For instance, the older you are the more likely you are to have fraternal twins. Women over 45 have a 17% chance.

4. Fraternal twins are more common in African Americans and less common in Asians and Hispanics.

5. The more pregnancies you have the more likely you are to have twins.

Twins can happen to anyone - although I probably wouldn't rely on the word of a clairvoyant.

Hope this helps!

twins dont have to run in ur family in order to have them.however,a family history does increase the odds.women over the age of 35 are the most likely to have twins, even without a family history, the occurance of twins rises with the age of the mother, and this was a statistic long b4 in-vitro was even dreamt of.as for the clairvoyant, all i can say is,i was told over 20 years ago about my "sandy haired twins,a boy and a girl>"im 46,and im still waiting.ever wonder, maybe the clairvoyant could be wrong????

Clairvoyants? Is that who you trust for medical opinions? There is no specific rule about when twins can occur. That is determined during conception. With all the hormones and drugs that people take these days, it's much more likely that someone can conceive twins - regardless of whether you have sets of twins in your family previously.

It helps to have a family history, but there always has to be a first somewhere.
Also, the older a woman is, the higher the chance of multiple births.
I usually don't believe in clairvoyants, but I went to one with my friend, and she made me get my reading along with hers. Everything has come true, and she was very detailed, down to initials and locations. Of course, it is entirely up to chance if your daughter becomes pregnant at all, let alone with twins, but it is fun to speculate! Good luck! :)

It helps to have twins in the genetic pool but it can happen even if there aren't. I'd not hold my breath on a clairvoyant being right though. We had one call our office and ask if her business would make it in a certain center...if she were truly clairvoyant wouldn't she have known?

Yes, it is, even if there aren't twins running in the family. All the kids of my generation in my family (cousins, etc) on my father's side are having twins, even though there isn't a history of twins in the family.

Edit: but I wouldn't trust the psychics. I'm just saying it's possible.

Emagine this. I am a twin and my partner is a twin......Stop thinking so hard we could have one awesome child or up to 6 god given graces. Are you worried about having the twins or do you want them. Every child is a gift from God and everyone has thier beliefs. If you are doing the dirty you probably get pregnant. No birth control is 100% defence. Twins dosen't have to run in the family. It's how God feels on that day and if his a bit bored and needs to liven up the days ahead...

Yes it is. Twins as you point out are more common if there is a family history. But they can be had by any couple. It depends on how generous mother nature is feeling that day :-)

Well, whether the clairvoyants are genuine or not ( I have no opinion on that as I don't know them!) I have heard studies prove that it is the father who determines identical (genetic) twins. Obviously, non identical twins can happen to anyone (wow, my wording is crap tonight lol) so you never know.....

Mucho painful./: i do no longer even think of i certainly choose to have childrens ;; consistent with hazard i'm going to undertake.. provide the little infants without authentic dad and mom a raffle.(: i continuously needed to be a twin whilst i exchange into little.. yet no longer anymore. because of the fact, i mean, particularly ;; you will could proportion each and every thing with them & human beings would constantly combination you up. yet, particularly, i've got in no way even had the concept-approximately desiring twins because of the fact of invoice & Tom. it is not common for me to even bear in mind that they are twins ;; they provide the effect of being no longer something alike. (different than for sometimess.) Butttt - if i ever did have twins, i'd desire them to be like invoice & Tom - thoroughly unique & distinctive from one yet another ;; yet continuously in keeping with one yet another.(: ballot -;- i don't understand.xD i continuously get perplexed whilst somebody asks me how many arms I even have. xxo. ?
