Okay, no there is no danger to be induced if it is done on or about your due date. My daughter was induced twice and all are fine. She just had her third, and last, baby a couple of months ago and was induced. All is well. C-sections aren't done as readily as they used to be. They are only done is case of an emergency. I've had three C-sections and did just fine. It's easier cause you don't have to wait for labor to start but there's a longer recuperation period. My daughter had natural births x's 3 and did just fine. So will you. Good luck and Congratulations!!!

I have 3 children, all were induced. I've been told that it hurts worse by other people. I think, that it may feel stronger cuz the progress is faster. When I was induced, the nurses just keep a closer eye on the baby because of the drugs used and the labor not being natural. Relax because no matter what happens you will be better off if you don't stress out.

From my own experience - I had my water broken by the doctor for both my deliveries - it only makes the labor progress. Of course, pains increase as things progress, but breaking the water doesn't make the pain worse than if the water broke by itself. In my first delivery, I was scared of how bad it might get, was tired and opted for an epidural. For the second, the pain was bearable and labor/delivery went so fast. I didn't request anything! (the hospital had a jacuzi-bath which was wonderful and I think really helped)

If a drug is used to progress labor, I've heard it can make things progress much faster (that's what it's suppose to do afterall) and that can make it harder to deal with.

Bottom line is don't be scared! There is medicine available to help you if you feel the pain is becoming too much. Also, with C-sections, the important thing to remember is that you will heal just fine and in many cases even be able to deliver naturally next time.

Are you taking a lamaze class? You can usually find one at the hospital and it's full of information for you, which really helps when you know what to expect. Hope this helps and good luck!

Here's the thing about induction, unless your body is ready it really won't help much. You should try to hold out as long as possible without being induced (although most docs won't let you go more than 2 weeks past your due date).

No it's not bad for you or the baby, but it does bring on stronger more intense contractions. With my second, I was lucky. I was far enough along that I got my epidural first and then they induced me so I never felt a thing.

Don't worry. You will be fine, whether you are induced or not.

Good luck!

I was induced with my daughter I was put on the P drip and yes it hurt very bad. They induced me at 9 in the morning and then and 6 the doc. came in I had a to have c section. It is not bad it just hurts worse b/c you go straight to the hard contractions instead of easing into them. Good Luck don't be scared it will all be fine in the end.

Yes, when they induce the contractions are more intense. There are higher risks of some complications from the medications they use. I did end up with a c-section, but it was by choice because labor was so painful and intense, but I still wasn't dilating. They will give you the choice for a c-section as long as it's not an emergency. Good Luck!

No its not dangerous being induced and I have had all 3 of my children naturally without any drugs. My second was induced. To tell you the truth, I couldnt tell you if it was stronger or not. I never noticed them any stronger than with the other two. Really. It all felt the exact same to me. The doctor will not put you or your baby in danger. Im pregnant with my 4th and will be induced..They dont do anything weird to you.

induction tends to be more pain full because you are getting
contractions that are produced and controlled by an outside
source. they tend to be sharper and can come faster than
natural contractions. contractions of any kind are also
stressful to the baby. the good news is there are epi-durals
and other methods of pain management, if anything is wrong with the baby it will show up on the monitor, induction of labor can
prevent a c/section,which would be worse.and most of all
you are the customer. if you dn't like what anybody is doing
speak up; and make sure your care givers have id badges on
at all times................Monte RN
breathe during contractions. in through the nose and out through the mouth.

Iw as induced with my daughter and since it was my first pregnancy I'm not sure if the pains were worse, but they definately hurt.

I think the one major downside to being induced is that you can't get out of the bed, and what you learn in birthing classes is to get up and walk of move. So if you can avoid being induced I would recommend it.

I had my daughter without being induced and it wasn't as bad as when I had my son when I was induced. When I was induced my contractions were ALOT harder; but I don't think it would be bad for the baby....if it was then why would they induce so many women? You will be alright sweetheart.
