My daughter has a project she is doing and the topic is Do short people run faster than tall people and if so, how come.

It really depends on the person. I'm pretty sure I am taller than most of the sprinters in the world, and I am also pretty sure I would lose to them. On the whole, taller people take longer strides and cover more ground more quickly than shorter people. But, I think a lot more factors play into it than height.

The best idea, expecially if it's for a science project, is to actually do an experiment and see who's faster. However, I believe tall people generally run faster because they have longer legs.

Tall people are slower out of the gate because they are clumsy and usually fall. No, really, there is no corrolation between size and speed. If this was the case, then a 3 foot midget would be able to run circles around Michael Jordan. I don't think so!!

its the same reason as cars. the short people can run faster b.c the are going threw less air and tall people are going threw more air. but tall people can run farther b,c they have a longer leg span then short people.

Acutally, I grew up believing it doesn't matter how tall you are, but how long your legs are in proportion to your body.

Probably becuz of the wind resistance, I'm short but my friend is shorter and he is FAST!

I would say they are more agile. But, it probably has to do with balance
