That's assuming we're still around. But will we all be 8 foot tall, or 35 stone, or hardwired into the net, or warring in small tribes all over the world - or will we have attained utopia? Will we be staring up at distant stars from new planets. Or will be scratching round in the ruins of cities and civilisation? Just wanted to get your thoughts, that's all.

Well, the problem is that with humans and evolution, is that we've eliminated our ability to evolve properly.

Normally, it's survival of the fittest, right? Those who the fittest, have the best physical attributes, etc, survive better and have more children. Not so in our society today. Nearly everyone is surving and reproducing, now (well, in North American and Europe, anyway.) Never mind mental illness, physical deformities, hereditary diseases... Everyone today has a 'right' to reproduce, even those who, in nature, would not even survive.
Not to mention that our system of marriages and the HUGE diversity in existance, which is also eliminating the evolution of the human species. Say, in the population of elephants in Africa, you get a big-***, huge, strong bull male. He's the leader, he'll sire WAY more babies than any other male, and those babies will grow to be huge strong elephants, too, and they too, will have more children. With humans, you give birth to a baby with, say, stronger forearms... he might get married, have a couple kids, and eventually the genes dillute into the gene pool.

This begs another question, too. HOW does evolution happen? Are they random mutations that, if succesful, become traits of a species? Or are they purposeful?
So, in the savannah, if the trees get taller, will the giraffes' necks get longer as a result? OR will the giraffes with the longest necks have the most success in surviving, and therefore go on to have the most offspring?

If evolution is purposeful, we're all going to develop fat arses and amazing hand-eye coordination. lol. If evolution is random mutation, well, we're probably overall decreasing the quality of the gene pool.

Frankly, I don't think much will change, no matter how long we go. People will still be able. Lives will revolve around food and sex and sleep and money and wealth. Just like it does now. I pray for enlightment of the human race, though, don't you? ;) Yes, I pray to the enlightment gods.

Who is to say. There are many things to think about.
For one over the next 10,000 years we are most likely to find out if anyone else is out there. As for the rest who can say. The damage we have done may cause us to become like Mad Max or Waterworld or we might evolve and be able to fix the damage. Either way we will still have a society that is split and will still have some president or PM messing it up.
We will most likely have a colony or two else where in the system that will have there own problems to deal with. Nature is already trying to kill off the human race but we seem to be doing a reasonable job in limiting the effect.
The time is to great to know and inventions and discoveries will shape it all. Only time can and will tell.
Tho for a decent idea Sci-Fi programs like Mad Max, Waterworld, Babylon 5, Adromedia, Earth Final Conflict and all the non-perfect outcome programs have some idea of possible outcomes.

I think it's impossible to assume we wouldn't. Can't say if we'll evolve for the better but to say we will evolve is certain. Who knows how much we will evolve physically? I think the evolution will be one of Spirit and mind. I hope it'll involve people treating others with more respect. I also hope the us of the future won't be as scared as the us of now. I think Fear is the number one reason that keeps us from evolving, Spiritually that is.

Honestly I haven't the foggiest idea of where we'll be. I hope that is the direction we will move though.

you're sooooo good. The anthropologists are bobbing up with new evidence all the time that hominids and human beings have been in the international way longer than the bible claims. My own perception is that what ever spirituality those people who went previously adhered to could have provided a sacred place for their souls to stay after the loss of existence of the flesh. enable the christians think of what they desire it makes them satisfied and now and returned shuts them up. P.S. no longer all christians have faith in pergatory, i replaced into raised a christian and we did no longer incorporate pergatory interior the checklist of places to circulate after loss of existence. Good question...IF we last that long, I would guess taller, live hmmmm.either shorter or longer, be more diverse than we are now (based on natural selection). No utopia, I beleive that society is on a slow decline as a whole.

i can't decide which will come first, nature getting fed up with our lack of respect for it and make us extinct, or our technology revolting against us and destroying us so they can take over. probably both at the same time.
