x^2-x-20
(x^2-5x)+(4x-20)=0
x(x-5)+4(x-5)=0
(x+4)(x-5)=0

factors out to
(x+4)(x-5)

so how did we get there
x^2 is easy x times x
- 20 is 4 times 5 and one has to be negative - (course it could have been 1 20, 2 10)
so which one - look to the middle number - it's a negative
that means the 5 has the - with it
