For the past four years we have been actively talking on the phone about anything and everthing including her past relationships. However, when it comes to me wanting to hang out she avoids me like the plague. Mind you we talk about everything on the phone. Why, does she avoid me?

Honestly I have no idea at all. It could in fact be that she is really busy, and that she is not avoiding you, but maybe feels less guilty for missing out on some face to face time with you because you are such good friends and you talk so often. That or maybe she feels awkward around you, perhaps she knows you have feelings for her, or perhaps she still has feelings for you. Whatever the reason is you need to voice your concern to her that you feel like you are being neglected as her friend and you would like to know why she is going through all the trouble to avoid you and not make time for you. No one on here is going to be able to tell you what is going on in that girls head, you need to reevaluate your friendship and communicate some of the things that matter to you.

you're just her telephone relationship counselor....she's not interested in you as a person, she's only interested in telling you all her problems and all about her life so she feels better. the fact that she's not even considering how this is affecting you (and she knows you like her more) is very selfish unless she made it plain up front it was nothing but a telephone relationship. it also could be she has changed a lot in 20 yrs. and she's embarrassed.

Why press it! You want more! Did it ever occur to you that she loves you for you and not for a relationship that always taint friendships of longevity? Not to rain on your parade, consider the fact that she feels you know way to much more of her than any one she is or may spend her life with. Keep it real, safe and as it is, you will always have her in your corner.

maybe she likes talking to you on the phone and if you and her start hanging out she is afraid that it will get serious and she isnt ready for a serious relationship. and then it might be she doesnt want to runion your friend ship she may jutst like talking to you on the phone

Because she wants to just be friends with you. You are in the friend zone not the boyfriend zone. Accept the fact that you are a buddy and move on.

Mabey she has comitment issues, and your bst bet is to ask her bluntly why she avoids you, what can it hurt and it saves you from waiting on something that may never happen! good luck to you!
