You can cut a dog whiskers but you CAN NOT cut a cats whiskers. Has anyone ever seen a show poodle? Their faces are clean shaven. There is NO way you can weave in and out of whiskers while cutting the hair on the face. Dogs do not need their tails either as cats DO! This is a myth. Google it you will see. Cats and dogs are 2 totally different species. So yes cut/clip them {off} if you wish you will cause NO HARM! And let the groomer do it, because dogs have long fur for a reason (most), and an experienced groomer know's how to groom. Maybe I made the "need" part confusing. I meant, they do not really NEED them cut, but they don't 'need-need' them either. You can cut them, it won't do harm. ETA: Oh yeah, let the groomers groom the dog. Yorkies, or anything with that type of coat, need specific grooming. Learn patience. Also, don't plan on keeping that dog, be sure to look for it's owner. @Micky - What the hell are you talking about? I stated that you CAN cut dog's whiskers off, because you do see them in show ring as well. But you cannot do with cats, two different species. Seriously, how I explained that, did I confuse you? Keep Them dont cut them off trim them!

shaving makes the hair come back thicker...pluck it or wax. its better

No they just grow back darker and coarser.
