It's not a disaster
It just slows down your computer
It's impossible it cannot be removed.
Try to shut the virusscanner down, and then remove it.

You cant uninstall a program that is currently running in memory. You either have to go into safe mode (still a chance especially with anti virus that it may still run in safe mode too) or shut down the program you want to uninstall. Either, if it appears as an icon in the system tray right click and shutdown or exit. Or ctrl+alt+delete and go to the processes tab and shut down the process from there. You will get a warning message, it is safe to ignore it. Then you should be able to uninstall through the add remove programs option.

If you have Windows XP, boot into safe mode. When asked if you want to do a System Restore, select OK. Pick a date from before the time when he installed the unwanted program, and restore to that date. Any other programs you have added in the mean time will need to be reinstalled but your data will be unchanged.

OR

Uninstall Yahoo Messenger with all its subcomponents then reinstall with just the parts you want.

It will slow your pc down a bit, and it won't work so well, so i would get rid of the yahoo one, until the norton runs out, then download the yahoo again

Boot into safe mode. Disable either one first and try to uninstall. If that doesn't work. Right click on the toolbar at the bottom and open up task manager. Kill the processes that are from the antivirus program. And try to uninstall again.

I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems.
Some hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required.
