Im still a junior in highschool..and supose to be a senior; because of the TAKS test, and really..I think its a bunch of BS. Many of the students every where are being held back beause of this test, and for what reason?_they know their work..Just when it comes to tests..Everybody chokes.

My daughter, in Fourth grad, aced the TAKS. I really think that it is detrimental to education to teach to a test. Kids - like you - don't get to learn history or the arts - the teachers must teach to TAKS.
It's sad.
I wish Rick Perry or GW would take the TAKS - I bet they wouldn't pass!

My 2 children were in a Texas school and i think that TAKS is a joke, that is all they do most of the year is prepare for these tests. So tell me when do they learn other stuff? Anyway you can appeal being held back from the test. If you make really good grades all year long and then fail the TAKS they i believe have to pass you but only if you appeal it. I agree with you Houstonz. I'm a TX teacher myself and believe me, it is one of the most talked about subjects between us.
The problem stems from those at the state and federal level, masters of the universe, that pass impractical legislation.
It's pathetic for us to see what's happened to education.
