Tyler 10 miles in 75 mins => 10m in 1.25 hours => 10/1.25 = 8mph

Brian 4 miles in 30 mins => 4m in 0.5 hours => 4/0.5 = 8mph

As they both averages 8 miles per hour their rate was the same.

Yes they did.

If Tyler ran 10 miles in 75 mins, he should run 40 miles in 300 mins (4 times what he ran)

If Brian ran 4 miles in 30 mins, he should run 40 mins in 300 mins (10 times what he ran)

So they ran at the same rate...

Tyler ran at 10/75 miles per minute
Brian ran at 4/30 miles per minute

Do the division and see what you get.

yes they ran at the same rate
i divided 75/10=7.5 then 4/30=7.5
they both ran at the speed of 7.5 miles per hour
and you figure if brian keeps running for 10 miles 4X2 is 8 plus a little more is 10 miles

10 miles in 75 mins=2 miles every 15 mins= 8 miles in one hour.
4 miles in 30 mins =8 miles an hour.
Yes same rate. too work out just do the same sum too miles as you to time. eg. 2miles *4 and 15mins *4 = 8mile/60min

depends on the rate definition
if its miles/ hour, then they did run at same rate.
10mi/ 75 mins = 10/( 1 hr 15 mins)= 10/1 1/4 hour = 10*4/5 = 8
4 mi/30 mins = 4/1/2 hr = 8

set up a proportion like 10 over 75 is equal to x over 30 and see what the rate should be if they were running at the same rate.
