Mars has two moons: Phobos and Deimos.
Observations of light reflecting off of the surfaces of these bodies suggest that they likely consist of carbonaceous chondrite material (and would thus be asteroids or 'burnt-out' comets captured by Mars' gravity).

Two. Mars is named after the Roman God of War, in Greek Ares-----same derivation.
The two moons of Mars are named after the two sons of the War God. Phobos (Fear) and Deimos (Terror)
