I COULD go swimming in the Pacific if I were in San Diego ... but what with horrible pollution from the Tijuana River flowing into it ... and the fact that it is likely very cold this time of year - I would probably refrain.
However, if I were bent on swimming in the Pacific - I would go to Hawaii.

lol! people are making me laugh when they are saying Pacific. Even though they are right...it's funny.
I really wouldn't suggest going full blown swimming in the Ocean...you know how strong it is? Man...maybe you haven't been.
On a serious note...La Jolla is a good beach, Coronado is too, and also Mission Beach. They are all nice places to go...

Pacific, but I wouldn't do it personally, I would much rather go to Hawaii or Bermuda, the water there is so blue and clear!
