10. If God didn't want them to use caps, it wouldn't be available on the keyboard.
9. For the same reason some people must wear a baseball cap and sunglasses on their avatar - BECAUSE THEY CAN!
8. As an expression of individuality.

6. The keyboard is broke and that's all they have.
5. A physical disability prevents them from clearly seeing small letters on the screen.
4. Because other formatting tools aren't available on Y!A (fonts, styles, colors, bold, Italic, etc.) Imagine the biatching then!!

Letters and term papers are meant to be written in standard English or American English (depending on where in the English speaking world you study). This means they must adhere to the standardised rules of spelling and grammar. Whilst both differ in spelling at times, they do both agree that: - Capitals (I am unsure whether 'capitol' is American English or incorrect) should be used to start sentences, proper nouns and in titles. - At all other times, lower case is to be used. Basically, writing a term paper in capitals is incorrect. That is why they don't like it. For more informal writing (letters and emails) it looks shouted and rude.

A lot of the people in here are new on the computer and as yet do not realize that typing in caps connotates yelling. I'm sure with some experience they will catch on and will not be typing in caps.

Hope that helps.

You'll find that there is a direct correlation between intelligence (or lack thereof) and permanent use of the caps lock key.
