Very much depends on the people and the relationship.
If both persons are totally committed, and believe that they are "made for each other" and are willing to do whatever they need to in order to be together eventually, it can work.

Fact is, most don't. Also, age and maturity level seem to have a bit to do with it as well.

My husband and I lived 1200 miles apart the first three years of our relationship, and only saw each other in person about five times (always for several weeks) in that time. Then we lived an hour apart for two more years, even though we were married (circumstances were such that we could not be together yet ... i.e. immigration) but we spent most weekends together. We have now been together fulltime since May, and it was well worth all we have been through to get to this point, but it hasnt been easy over the years.

From my 8 years of military service, I found that anything more than a 3 hour drive became too inconvenient to continue an ongoing relationship. Everyone has different thresholds of tolerance but that's my 2 cents worth!

for how long of a period of time? my husband and i had a long distance relationship for a little over a year (we live in louisiana) and it was only an hour and a half away... but still it was sometimes difficult. if you are both committed to making it work and see eachother as often as possible it is possible. but only if both of you are willing to make sacrifices.

My b-friend and I did it for a year and a half while I went back to school. If you two are really serious than it will work

i believe it's doable. it's gonna take a lot of hard work and sacrifice, but they can work. i've been in 3 and know that there needs to a lot of trust and communication. if you don't see that in your relationship then it might not, but if you've got all that then you're good. good luck
