Is it just to 'shut the door of opportunity' to a white man, simply because of his race and sex? Is it just to descriminate against a white man because of the wrongs of his forefathers? Think about it, if it's not wrong to discriminate against white males, why is it wrong to discriminate against women, and/or minorities?

Also, what if the man is married and/or has children, is Affirmative Action also shutting the door on his wife and children?

It is worse than the wrong doings of the past, because:
-It is condemning the wrong doings of the past, but then doing the exact same thing, but now claiming it is not a wrong thing. HOW STUPID IS THAT?
-“white men” of today are not responsible for the “wrong doings” of “white men” of the past. And minorities of today are not the ones that suffered in the past, and they now have the same(actually they have more) rights.
-They are doing the exact same thing, but the wrong doing is much more serious now because it is being done by a supposedly now modern, just and fair society, and in an explicitly legal way!
-It will not solve anything; it will do just the opposite.
-What will solve is giving equal rights, and continually educating people, then mentalities will and are changing over time.
-Affirmative Action sounds to me like childish and immature!!! Such an intelligent society we live in today!!!
-TWO WRONGS DONT MAKE A RIGHT!!!

The equal protection under the law meant other than white people, because they considered white people were already protected, so they didn't need protected any more! Another form of liberals trying to give people different rights than others! I tried to become a cop back in the 70's. I applied 3 different times, for 1 of 30 spots. I had letters from 4 Local Police chiefs that I knew. Yet each time I was told by the school, you just missed. Those ahead of me, that received the spots were taken in this order (1) Veterans (each time all the vets were of a minority) (2) Minorities and (3) Women. I had one thing bad going for me, I was a white non veteran male (I found this information out from one of the Police Chiefs. He couldn't understand why I didn't get in the third time, so he requested the information. When I met him, to get the information, he sat there just shaking his head, telling me how sorry he was! So I moved on!

yes, affirmative action is constitutional.

however, when it was instituted it did serve a purpose and help to level out the playing field so to speak, but now it can actually be harmful to the image of minorities and reverse affirmative action can happen.

now some schools are even considering including sexuality on their admissions to help them diversify. i'm all for diversity but you can't prove someones sexual orientation and people could easily lie to have an edge on the competition.

while strides still need to be made in terms of equality for all, i personally feel that affirmative action is outdated.

Its just as right as it was in the 50's to give the job to a less qualified white man over a more qualified black man just because of his skin color. In other words...its not right. But alas it is still legal. There are a lot of things in our society that are legal, but not right.

Constitutinal, or not, it's legality rest on the whims of the powers that be.
