Spaniards having black hair and brown eyes is just a cliché. I live in Andalucía, the south of Spain, and there are blue and green eyes and fair hair in my family.

Good question!
Yes, blue eyes are a "recessive" trait of the genes. That means that it can skip a generation or two. But, Spaniards are often fair-haired and eyed, just like many are dark haired and dark eyed. It just depends on the luck of the draw, genetically. Many are redheaded, with brown eyes. In essence, Spain is like any country, mixed. Spaniard's come just like all nationalities, with many different looks.
Your probably confused because of the Moors who owned the land for a long time. These were dark skinned Muslims during the early middle ages. Once the Crusades began and "Europe" emerged as a Christian continent, they were moved out (so to speak).

Hey (Mr. Racist!)
Why do you ask such stupid questions? For one almost all Spaniards have colored eyes. I am a 100 percent Mexican Hispanic girl but was born here in the U.S. and all of my family members have blond hair and blue eyes some of them have green eyes with red hair and all 100% pure Hispanics (Yeah!). So don't hate okay. Not all Hispanics are brown 75% are very light skinned and have colored eyes. Hey that goes for every race because I've seen whites who are darker than me and they don't have blue eyes like me. Thanks to the Spaniards we are all mixed. So just as how you see my picture that is exactly how I look even my p*u*b*i*c hairs are blond. Ha! Ha! Ha!
and that's not how you spell spainards the correct word is capital Spaniards learn from a Hispanic
and stop hating live happy!

Spanish people in Spain are descendents of many different groups including Celts, Greeks, Romans, Visigoths all having blue, green, hazel or brown eyes.

Of Course they can and do. When Europe was first settled, it was the Celts that came across the top and settled the northern parts. That is why you have dark Italians in the south AND fair Italians in the north. Same with Spain.
